Lewes Phoenix Rising and Lewes District Council meet to discuss creative industries and the relocation of Phoenix businesses
Following the SDNPA’s approval of the LDC/Santon planning application last Thursday, Lewes Phoenix Rising (LPR) is intending to find, acquire and independently develop a site in Lewes to resurrect, reassemble and refurbish the Phoenix Ironworks structures as the basis of a major hub to keep and grow the town’s creative, making and backstage industries.
We had an encouraging initial discussion with Lewes District Council and Santon about this and talks will continue in the New Year.
LDC and Santon have also said they will be entering into direct talks with businesses and youth facilities on the Phoenix Estate regarding relocation and future space provision in town. We will continue to monitor progress on this.
Many of our signatories have generously supported our work financially over the past 18 months, without which we could not have made the progress we have. Thank you.
Our objectives are now changing to a development of our own and, with this change, you may wish to cease contributions at this point.
However, if you would like to support Lewes Phoenix Rising as we work to secure the large-scale financing we need to progress our new plans, we would be very grateful. We will provide much more detail on our proposals and ways of supporting us in the New Year.
Happy Christmas – the Phoenix will rise again!
